Want to lose weight, reverse aging, and have beautiful hair and glowing skin?

According to Dr Berg, you need to go Keto

My journey to keto

In general, keto follows this rule – (70% fat ) (20% protein) ( 5 clean carbs) (5 other carbs)

The goal of weight loss should also include reaching optimal health. Despite your desire to fit into your Daisy Dukes by summer, remember that good health is the most important goal. Prior to Keto, I hadn’t tried a diet, but I had evidence of insulin resistance.

My hair wasn’t growing as fast as it used to, and my skin wasn’t as glowing as it used to be. Moreover, my energy levels were low, so in an attempt to find answers, I consulted a doctor and had some blood work done. As a result, he suggested I try the ketogenic diet, which not only alleviated most insulin resistance issues but also had many other astounding health benefits. As a result, I became more focused, had more energy, and my skin and hair never looked better.

Glowing skin, who doesn’t want that?

Sugar

Sugar and processed foods play a significant role in many health problems. It had been suggested many years ago that eating fat would make you gain weight. The truth is that this isn’t entirely true, since we gain weight from consuming carbohydrates. In addition to weight gain, sugar also causes diabetes, insomnia, mood swings, irregular periods, low energy, and a host of other health issues. However going keto was not just about weight loss, but about becoming the healthiest version of myself.

What are carbohydrates?

According to Dr Berg carbs are in almost everything we eat. He goes on to explain that “Simple carbohydrates made of refined flour and added sugar rapidly convert to blood sugar (glucose) when you eat them. Complex carbohydrates, such as grains and beans, convert more slowly. Regardless, all carbohydrates convert to sugar in the body – and when your net carb intake is high you’ll gain weight”

“All your life you’ve been told that you need carbs for energy  or that your brain can only run on glucose made from carbs, a type of sugar. Those are myths, as evidenced by the countless healthy, happy individuals on low-sugar or low-carbohydrate diets. Instead, you can run your body on other fuel sources such as fatty acids and ketones produced by fat burning.

While your body does need a very tiny amount of glucose (sugar) to function, it has the capability to produce all the glucose it needs internally from fat or protein, not carbs. The carbs you do need are vegetables—but only for the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber they supply. Otherwise, your body does not require carbohydrates for good health. In fact, the opposite is true. Carbohydrates, particularly refined carbohydrates, deplete your nutrients and negatively affect your health. Carbs also turn to fat in your body, and they impede fat burning. (That’s why you haven’t been able to lose weight on a high-carb diet ”

Today, we hear the term ‘keto diet’ every day in conversations between friends, family, colleagues, and strangers on Facebook. In just a short time, the diet has produced incredible results.  When you switch to a new eating style, your body has to adjust to that. This type of diet puts your body in a state of ketosis, where it begins to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates when you eat a low-carb, adequate protein, and high-fat diet.

The result is that people on this diet lose fat, gain energy, and lose weight very quickly. The state of ketosis takes one to two weeks to achieve.  I consider Dr Berg to be one of the best online experts on keto and how to kick start your body into ketosis. In many of his YouTube videos, he provides insightful advice about the benefits of switching to Keto.

When it comes to keto diets, you have to be much more careful than if you were experimenting with dietary changes for weight loss. Excess fat consumption can affect your cholesterol levels and even cause kidney stones, since you’re pushing your body to function in a way that’s not normal for it. Consider consulting your GP or nutritionist before beginning the keto diet, getting any necessary tests, and then making the leap.

Do I just consume fat?

In spite of the fact that a heap of cheese and avocado would taste great at every meal, keto isn’t all about that. Plan and balance your meals so that none of the food groups are over consumed. According to Dr Berg, you should consume 20-50 grams of carbohydrates daily to stay in ketosis. A ketogenic diet should consist of about 60–80% fat, 10–30% protein, and no more than 5–10% — or 20–50 grams — of carbs per day. Consider foods that are high in fat and low in carbs, such as eggs, meats, dairy products, and vegetables low in carbs, as well as sugar-free beverages. Trans fats and highly processed foods should be limited.
